Getting to the Roots of the Matter: Trees in 19th-century Literature

19th-century poetry and fiction is filled with references to trees and forests in conflict with the effects of a rapidly changing world. In this lecture, Dr. Susan Oliver looks at examples of ecological crisis and the complex relationship between people and trees in 19th-century literature. Presented in partnership with Boise State's The Idea of Nature lecture series.
